Who qualifies as a New Entrant?
• Under 26 at the date of application
• Within 3 years of being awarded a UK bachelor's degree (or HNC/HND)
• Switching from a Student or Child Student visa
• First period of Skilled Worker / Tier 2 General leave (never previously held it)
• Working towards a recognised professional qualification for the role
4-year cap: New entrant status cannot exceed 4 cumulative years across Skilled Worker, Tier 2 General and Scale-up leave.
Transitional provisions (Options F–J) apply only if you were granted continuous Skilled Worker / Tier 2 General leave under rules in place before 4 April 2024 and have maintained it without a break. These lower thresholds are available until 4 April 2030. If uncertain, use the Standard option.
